The Farthings
Located on York's southbank, in a quiet residential street, The Farthings is only a 10 minute walk from the train station and York's major attractions such as The Yorvik Viking centre and historic York Minster. We have a good selection of bars and restaurants within a 5 minute walk.
A traditional,family run Victorian guesthouse, built in 1895, we have tried to retain it's character, and the rooms have been individually decorated, with a focus on comfort and cleanliness. All rooms have flat screen tv's with DVD, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers, bathrobes and excellent quality complimentary toiletries.
We have a selection of en suite rooms, and rooms with shared bathrooms to accommodate all budgets.
Complimentary "Deliciously Yorkshire" breakfast is served in the comfortable and stylish dining room, and we pride ourselves on using quality local produce, and hold a VisitEngland breakfast award. We can cater for any special dietary requirements.
Free WIFI is available throughout the guest house, and we provide free on street parking with a permit.

Terms & Conditions
RESERVATION
A valid credit / debit card is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation, which can be made by phone, fax, or e mail.
DEPOSIT
A non refundable deposit of £30.00 is required at the time of booking, which can be paid by credit or debit card. We do not accept American Express.
PAYMENT
Payment is due on arrival by any of the following methods:
Sterling cash, debit cards or credit cards.
We do not accept American Express.
GROUP BOOKINGS (2 or more rooms)
Group bookings must be made directly with The Farthings by telephone on 01904 653545. We do not accept same sex groups or stag and hen parties.
A SECURED BOOKING REPRESENTS A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE GUEST AND THE ACCOMMODATION PROVIDER
CANCELLATION
If a booking is cancelled more than 48 hours before date of arrival, there will be a cancellation fee of £30.00. Bookings cancelled within 48 hours of arrival will be required to make payment in full.
TRAVEL / CANCELLATION INSURANCE
We strongly recommend that guests take out travel / cancellation insurance.
CURTAILMENT OF STAY. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN
Non arrivals without prior notification will be charged the payment in full, which will be taken from the card used to secure the booking.
CHECK IN TIMES
Before 1pm OR 5pm to 9pm.

In the event that rooms are not yet available, keys and parking permits will be issued if required, and luggage may be left with us.
Between 5pm ~ 9pm
Standard check in procedure will operate. Guests must confirm when booking, their time of arrival. Check in times outside of the above times, may be accommodated, but must be agreed directly with The Farthings at the time of booking.
Guests failing to take up their accommodation by the time stated , without prior arrangement, will be considered a “no show” and the room/s may be re-let and full payment taken.
Outside of the normal check in times,there will be no one present to check guests in or to provide parking permits. Therefore, please do not arrive when the guest house is closed.
Alternative parking can be found on Nunnery Lane or the junction of Scarcroft Road and Bishopthorpe Road, and there is a left luggage facility at the railway station.
Payment Policy
Payment can be made by cash, debit card or credit card.
A £30.00 non refundable deposit will be taken at the time of booking, and the balance for the booking is then payable on arrival.

Non arrivals, or failure to take up a booking by the specified time without prior notification, will result in payment require for the full duration of the stay.
There will be no refunds given for curtailment of stay.
