Burton & Speke Cottage - Full Board Book

Burton & Speke Cottage is ideal for families or couples travelling together. With a beautiful flower lined verandah, a secluded spot to watch the bird life with a morning coffee, the cottage has two en suite bedrooms, each accessed from the verandah and without an inter leading door.

Burton's room offers a double antique Bombay bed and is decorated with fine antique carpets and original paintings by Kenyan based artist David Marrian, whose landscape work is well-known in Kenya and beyond.

The bathroom is fitted with a shower and comes with beautiful organic soap, shampoo and conditioner handmade in Kenya.

Speke's room has two beautiful wrought iron single beds with charming linen carefully selected for each bed. A lovely antique chest of draws sits in the room along with original paintings by Kenya-based artist Lavinia Grant whose "naive" style of painting wildlife is well-known in Kenya and beyond. Better suited for children but the beds can be joined to make a double.

The bathroom is also fitted with a shower and comes with beautiful organic soap, shampoo and conditioner handmade in Kenya.

Thesiger Cottage - Full Board Book

Rate is for double occupancy and full board, inclusive of food, tea, coffee and sodas.
Decorated with an antique Persian carpet and two beautiful 5 feet wide British Raj beds used by junior British military officers more than 160 years ago. The cottage has its own balcony and is a lovely spot for admiring the views and enjoying the bird life. The private bathroom is fitted with a shower and comes with free toiletries.

Markham Cottage - Full Board Book

Rate is for double occupancy and full board, inclusive of food, tea, coffee and sodas.
This beautiful cottage is decorated with an antique Heriz carpet and features a 7 foot wide British Raj bed made in India and dating from about 1840. Used by a senior officer of the British military. It features stunningly carved bare-breasted angels in the head board.  This cottage is slightly more private than the others.

Private balcony and a lovely spot for admiring the views and enjoying the bird life. The private bathroom is fitted with a shower and comes with free toiletries.

Speke Cottage - Full Board Book

The Round House - Full Board Book

Rate is for double occupancy and full board, inclusive of food, tea, coffee and sodas.
This suite is set at the centre of the property with views of the river below, it includes its own living and dining room space downstairs and queen ensuite bedroom upstairs. It has a beautiful balcony with long views north and dramatic views over the valley. Also decorated with antique furniture and fine antique Persian carpets. 

Features it's own private outdoor bathroom with a "loo with a view" and outdoor shower perfect for a hot shower under the stars. With it's own dining table, it's the perfect place for a romantic dinner for two or intimate family dinner.

Olepangi House - Full Board Book

Villa Gorilla Book

Villa Gorilla is a private two double-bedroom cottage set within Olepangi Farm. Self catered (full board available) with a lovely terrace and sitting room overlooking a 36,000-acre wildlife conservancy - spot the elephants!! Perfectly situated for day trips, to ride a horse or to relax in nature after a massage, curl up with a good book by the river or an afternoon putting pen to paper at our writer's perch.

Tastefully decorated, yet fun and quirky . . . perfect for a short get-away and ideal for long-term stays to escape dull and grey weather in others parts of the world.

Two equally sized double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a kitchen and sitting room overlooking the terrace with sun beds and little cosy corners for your morning coffee listening to the sounds of the river below. And, at many times of the year take time to spot the wildlife, including elephants and all the plains game across the valley.

Villa Gorilla is available on a catered or self-catered basis.

Set in the stunning Laikipia plateau region of northern Kenya, home to 80% of Kenya's wildlife outside the national parks and reserves. Villa Gorilla borders millions of acres of wildlife conservancies with beautiful views in all directions. This area is considered by many to be the most beautiful in the whole of Kenya, with breath-taking scenery and abundant wildlife and best of all, very few tourists due to its historic isolation. The farm is the perfect base from which to explore the whole region. Climb Mt Kenya, take a day trip into Samburu National Park or over to Ol Pejeta, visit the canopy walk in Ngare Ndare Forest and swim in the blue mountain pools. We also offer day rides (at additional charge) from the farm on one of our well-schooled and responsive safari horses, some suitable for nervous riders and some with a bit more bounce ready for the odd jump on the farm. 3-4 hour rides available in to the adjacent conservancy for experienced riders. An extraordinary experience to ride amongst the elephants and plain's game.

Villa Gorilla is a sanctuary of peace and sophistication, ideal for honeymooners and where many in the past have come to reconnect with their own creative impulses due to the quiet charm of the property. The terrain, atmosphere and activities do not suit every age.

Please also talk to us about long-term stays in other accommodation on the farm. We frequently have guests from around the world who come and stay for weeks and months . . . writers, painters, world travellers . . . we are an easy place "to be" . . . peaceful and quiet, yet there is always something happening on the farm that everyone can partake in . . . learn to ride a horse, get involved in the community, teach at the local school, plant trees, interacting with our international artists-in-residence . . . endless opportunities. Come as a guest and leave as a friend.

Guest access
You will be able to access the 120 acres of Olepangi Farm. The only area that will be off limits is the Party House of the main lodge and the river area just below it. If you are a guest of Villa Gorilla, it is possible to have one-off meals in the main lodge at extra, but reasonable rates.

Other things to note
Olepangi Farm is famous for its horses. If you're a keen rider, let us know. We've got some great community rides and access to the neighbouring conservancy for experienced riders. We also offer a community walk with our neighbour Mr Kariuki who will give insight to social history of the area. He's a bit of legend and very popular with guests.
